Our Story
A new beginning after a painful past
Before launching the Authentic Magazine, our founder and editor-in-chief, Tendayi, dedicated 17 years to the fashion retail sector. In 2016, she embarked on a personal quest to find her true identity in God, following a traumatic childhood experience involving sexual abuse by a family member. This journey revealed to her that many women, herself included, were not realizing their true potential due to societal and cultural pressures. As a result, many have settled for false identities. Recognizing our genuine image and identity as the Daughters of Zion is crucial; failing to do so leaves individuals vulnerable and unable to express themselves confidently.
In 2018, Tendayi received her calling from the Holy Spirit, inspired by Proverbs 31:8 (CEB): "Speak out on behalf of the voiceless and for the rights of all who are vulnerable." Witnessing the Daughters of Zion adopt counterfeit identities instead of embracing who God intended them to be deeply troubled her, especially as she once experienced voicelessness and vulnerability herself. The Authentic Magazine was created to empower women to embrace their freedom in Christ and thrive in their God-given authenticity.
